Julia Lipnitskaia of Russia won the gold at the 2012 World Junior Figure Skating Championships.
Lipnitskaia once again impressed the audience with her consistent and difficult jumping technique, wonderful spins and musicality in her free skate program to the Romeo and Juliet by Nino Rota. Her precision of movement and her flexibility really stand out and the people in the Minsk Arena gave her a standing ovation at the end of her outstanding program. The young skater from Ekaterinburg, who now lives in Moscow, improved her season’s best with a score of 123.96 points and totaled 187.05 points. This result is a new record of the junior figure skating.
American Gracie Gold took the silver medal with a very nice and confident free skate program earning 171.85 overall. Last year’s Junior Champion Russia’s Adelina Sotnikova finished third with 168.45 points.
