Alena Leonova wins ladies short

Alena Leonova of Russia has set the pace in ladies singles at the World Figure Skating Championships.

The 21-year-old scored 64.61 points for her whimsical skate to the soundtrack of "Pirates of the Caribbean" to take the lead heading into Saturday's free program. Japanese Kanako Murakami finished second with 62.67 points, while Carolina Kostner of Italy scored 61.00 and holds third place.
